Caution Elephant will be playing at the Bell in Derby this Sunday as part of City-Zen’s 6th birthday. It’s going to be an all dayer (well from 4pm onwards) with a great line up of Derby bands and other talented folk there to entertain! Here is a link to the events page.
Here are some pictures taken from the gig I had at Deda last Friday. Some videos to follow. Thank you to Steph Lowe and Mitzy Valentine for your hard work and putting up with some of the last minute changes…sorry. Also to George Grignon for putting the event on and asking me to perform. Had a great night. Thank you.
Hello! Caution Elephant will be performing their first gig of 2012 at the Island Bar in Birmingham this Sunday (8th January). It will be part of The Free Love Club: Elvis’s Birthday where there will also be many other artists performing. Here is a link to the FB page.
Thank you to the people who made it down to our first gig a few weeks ago. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening! Hurrah!
My new band Caution Elephant will be playing our first gig on Tuesday (13th December 2011) at the Vic in Derby from 7pm til about 10. Also playing will be The Rift and headlining is Leela and the Spaceship! Here is a little description of the bands playing I collected from the Facebook page. I shall try and get a link on here too if you need anymore info….
Leela and the Spaceship are a Derby based band who draw on a diverse range of influences including – Cinematic Orchestra, Bombay Bicycle Club, SBTRKT, The XX, Efterklang, Madlib, Foals, The Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Toumani Diabate, Kings of Convenience, Portico Quartet, Bonobo, Led Zeppelin, The Stone Roses, Roll Deep, Gift Horse, The Fugees, Paul Simon and music in general anywhere… basically.
The sound of Caution Elephant is at times heavy and dark, at times light and playful. The band was formed by bassist Marley Butler and guitarist Emma Reading whose bass and guitar provide the strong, urgent driving force of the tracks. Then came drummer Cedric Monzali’s atmospheric, primal drums with Eleanor Williams’s haunting and fragile vocals and fairytale-esque lyrics. The result is experimental but catchy songs equal in style and substance.
The Rift are an upcoming indie-rock band hailing from right between Nottingham and Derby. We spent the best part of a year creating and perfecting our tracks before the arrival of George on drums in March 2011 and our first show the following May. With influences from Oasis to Muse (and just about everything inbetween), expect a wide range of songs experimenting across the indie and rock genres. Our catchy stick-in-your-head choruses and jump about melodies are ones not to be missed!
